The team was previously a member of the International Hockey League before it merged into the CHL in 2010. The Mallards play their home games at i Wireless Center, home to the original Mallards. Their acceptance into the CHL was officially announced on July 13, 2010. The original Mallards had suspended operations to make way for the [[Quad City Flames]], and the team now returns as the Quad City Mallards, as the Flames have moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia. On August 31, 2009, the Mallards announced an affiliation agreement with the [[Philadelphia Flyers]] and [[Adirondack Phantoms]].
